ICC TREE WATER PROJECT AND WATER WITH BLESSINGS

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will further its commitment to caring for God’s creation by partnering with Water With Blessings to bring clean drinking water to families in marginalized communities through their Navajo Nation Project.

WHAT IS WATER WITH BLESSINGS?

Led by Sr. Larraine Lauder, Water With Blessings aims to provide clean drinking water to every child, everywhere. Safe water is a fundamental human right. Yet around the world, two million people die each year due to unsafe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WHO).

Water With Blessings provides a simple solution to the water crisis: an inexpensive, home-based filtration system, an empowered community, and you.

The Sawyer PointONE filter system is amazingly quick and effective. It can be set up in 5 minutes and used by adults of all education levels. No electricity, no complicated maintenance - guaranteed for a lifetime of clean, safe water!

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

A MESSAGE FROM FR. JOHN GRACE

Father John demonstrates how the Sawyer PointOne water filter works by drinking filtered lake water in Newport News, VA.

Hear from him why it’s so important that parishioners of ICC get involved in the mission to bring clean drinking water to families in marginal communities who would otherwise face deadly water-borne illnesses on a regular basis.

Mothers in marginal communities are uniquely concerned for the health and well-being of their children, so they are the program’s partners for distributing the filters where they are most needed. To become Water Women with Water With Blessings, mothers attend a training and then commit to sharing their filters with 3 other neighboring families. Then they go forth to love and serve God through a daily, life-saving ministry of filtering water

You can help save children by making sure their moms have a Sawyer PointONE filter and the training to use it for a lifetime. The moms will “pay it forward” by making a sacred promise to filter for 3 other families… so your gift goes 4 times as far!

  • $25 will pay for 1/3 the cost of 1 filter: clean water for 1 family.

  • $75 to sponsor 1 Water Woman: clean water for 4 families.

  • $150 to sponsor 2 Water Women: clean water for 8 families.

  • $300 to sponsor 4 Water Women: clean water for 16 families.

  • $450 to sponsor 6 Water Women: clean water for 24 families.

CROCHET FOR A CAUSE

Water With Blessings delivers each filter with a crocheted “sock” that fits over a standard Sawyer PointONE filter to protect it in case it is dropped on a hard surface.

Each unique, handmade sock also adds a personal touch that carries a special message to the Water Woman who receives it. She knows that someone took the time to “pray and crochet” for her, which is an added blessing that will help her in her new ministry.

THE NAVAJO NATION PROJECT

ICC is partnering with Water With Blessings to provide clean water to families in the Navajo Nation.

The Navajo Nation is a Native American territory occupying portions of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Having been especially hard-hit by COVID-19, the community is also struggling with infrastructure issues like a lack of paved roads, electricity, and access to clean water for some of their most vulnerable people.
