For a Christian, to be confronted by the death of a loved one is radically different from one who does not believe in the promise of eternal life in God's presence. Our beliefs determine how we look at funeral celebrations in our parish. |

The parish church building which shelters God's church when it assembles for the celebration of the sacraments is the same building in which we hold visitation, celebrate our funeral rites, and proclaim our belief that the death of a faithful Christian is birth into new and eternal life. And because of our beliefs we treat the body of the deceased with great respect. Our faith encourages simple burial arrangements that are a powerful sign of Jesus' going into the grave. Or, as is becoming more practiced, a family may choose to have the body of the deceased cremated and the cremains placed in a niche in the parish columbarium. |

We try to immediately assist the family of the deceased in every
way possible and reflect the compassion of the Risen Lord to those who
grieve. |

Remember in prayer the deceased of our parish whose anniversary of passage into eternal life we remember this month. |
