In light of recent incidents of violence and racial tension in communities across the United States, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), has invited all dioceses across the country to unite in a Day of Prayer for Peace in Our Communities. It will be celebrated on the feast of St. Peter Claver, September 9. He hopes this will be one way to “nurture open, honest and civil dialogue in our communities struggling with violence in many forms.”
We will gather at 7:00 p.m. for an evening of prayer, song, and reflection as we pray for peace and continue to discern how we as a community can support healing and reconciliation in our homes, our cities, and our nation. We hope you will join us.
